I have New Glasses!
Well, I don't *have* new glasses. But they're ordered and paid for, and boy are they styling. My eyes have gotten only a little bit worse in the past four years since I last got glasses, and I'm not particularly blind without them--but I have a lot *easier* time seeing the computer and seeing at night with glasses on.
So yesterday I went to the eye doctor that Velvet recommended to me.
He managed to notice the scarring on my left retina, which was a definite mark in his favor. I have a number of "tests" I've devised to see if doctors are qualified to treat me, and my test for an eye doctor is that scarring on my retina--it's easily missed. (My test for a general practitioner is whether they know that hypothyroidism can cause mental confusion/memory loss.) He also mentioned that I have kinky blood vessels in my retinas, which usually result from being a preemie on oxygen. "You sure you were full-term? Interesting." Evidently, kinky blood vessels in eyes are a symptom of having been put on oxygen when you were born. I wasn't a preemie, as far as I know.
So--new eyes, soon. Perhaps this is the start of other new things, I don't know.
