because i am trying to put the atom back together
Today is test day for this book, and we're hammering on it and making sure everything is consistent and stuff. This is probably the last time I'll be book lead, since they're trying (finally!) to get me off this project, and onto other, more interesting things.
It's been a nowhere couple of days. I've been at work, at home to sleep, and then back at work again. i've been bringing my lunch to work and drinking lots of water like a good girl.
But my roommate Rebecca brought me Men's Pocky! Men's Pocky, when wussy Pocky just won't do! *hee* It really amuses me.
I think Chris gets home today or tomorrow. I want him to get his Christmas presents! *grins*
It's starting to get easier to get up in the morning. The light is creeping back to the point where the thought of getting up at 7:15 is almost tolerable, and in a few weeks I might even be able to get up at 7.
I've also managed to catch the exact same buses for three days in a row--the 8:25 70 and the 8:43 28. The people are starting to look familiar from day to day. There's a couple of women who live near me that always take the same bus, and chat on their way to work. A lot of people who live in my neighborhood apparently work downtown, judging from the number of briefcases and wool coats. The geeks you can tell by theur bags--they're almost all some variant of the Cordura bike messenger bag or backpack. Some of them have leather backpacks, but none of them carry actual briefcases. They also mostly look pretty zoned on the bus; it's too early in the morning for the first cup of coffee to have truly kicked in yet.
Oh, and you can tell who's a techie and who's management or in a bank job by shoes. Techies wear comfortable shoes--combat boots, hiking boots, or tennis shoes. Female management wears cute flats or riding boots, male management wears loafers. Almost nobody wears heels.
By the way, from the choirgirl hotel by Tori Amos is still a kickass album. i'm listening to it right now, and I'm still in love with it.
This weekend, I will purchase stuff. It's time to spend my gift certificates, darnit.
Plus, I really, really want the other version of the swank black outfit that my mom bought me for Christmas. Everyone keeps saying how nice i look in it. *preen* It's made of this stretch ribbed fabric, so i'm a walking sensory experience when I have it on.
And it zips up the front. *heh* The naughty part of my brain likes the concept.
I'm home now, and showered and clean and stuff. The book made it out the door by 5, and then I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to celebrate. I bought a big bath sheet, a wastebasket for the bathroom, and some hangers.
I thought I'd kill some time by finishing up here and then working on into the wreck for a little while. *yawn* Night, all.
