September 25, 2001: three cubed
Someone hit my car on Sunday.
No, I'm not hurt, and neither was she. I was backing up around a corner to let someone get out of a spot on my right in a parking lot, and she started backing out of her spot to my left. We were in each other's blind spot, basically.
It was initially inobvious that she'd even hit my car at all. But I pulled into a spot and tried to get out, and it seems that she pushed the right front panel in just a touch, enough to make the car door *really* hard to open. She ran into me at all of three miles an hour, and I wasn't moving.
We exchanged contact information, and I'm going to call my insurance company tomorrow and see what I have to do to file a claim. I'm pretty sure it'll be ruled her fault (and she was so nice about it, too! she was totally like "I'm so sorry!" and I was like "wrong place at the wrong time...") because she backed into me. But now I have to get the car fixed, and that's a pain in the tuckus. I went to the body shop yesterday, and they pried the panel back into place for me so i could open my door, but actually fixing the dent requires replacing the entire panel and will cost about $900. (ow my ass!)
So I called my insurance company, and they told me to call *her* insurance company...and I was like, um, what do I pay you guys for? i pay you to take care of these things for me! But I did, and I filed a claim, and one of these days I will get a call back from the other insurance company and all will be well.
So, that's been my first real accident. May they all be so mild.
And today is my birthday!
I am three cubed, (27 for those who need a calculator for that).
i'm not doing anything tonight, as my stupid homeowner's association has the one mandatory meeting all year tonight, and on ever September 25th for years now. But I am doing dinner on Saturday--where, I don't know, but it will happen.
[if you know me and want to come to dinner, mail me and let me know, and i'll let you know where and when.]
This means I've now been journaling for four years. Heh. i should actually move the earlier archives into a public location, now.
And last but not least, this is the week of getting stuff done.
Today is the homeowner's meeting. tomorrow, i'm taking Juniper in to have his teeth fixed. Thursday, I'm taking the car in for some accident-unrelated mechanical work. Friday, I'm getting a haircut. My hair is going to be shorter than it has been for years and years--I'm getting six inches or so chopped off the bottom, and I'm having bangs put back in.
And then I'm not going to spend any more bleeding money for a while.
